Why I Work This Way

Woman relaxing on a white couch, smiling.

I came to this work through both study and lived experience. Having lived across cultures, I understand how identity and belonging shape the way conflict shows up in families and couples. This understanding is particularly relevant in my practice as a family therapist in Guildford, where I’m especially attuned to the unspoken expectations that travel across languages, roles, and generations. Systemic family therapy provided the structure to something I had long sensed: problems rarely live in one person; instead, they take shape in relationships. That is where my work in couples therapy in Surrey and providing parenting support in Guildford begins.

Systemic Family Therapy in Guildford

    I work especially well with:

Two people engaged in a conversation on a couch.

    • Couples navigating cultural differences, relocation, or shifting roles often seek couples therapy in Surrey to find understanding and connection.

    • Parents and teens caught in repeating conflict cycles that leave everyone feeling unheard can benefit from parenting support in Guildford to improve communication.

    • Families where tension feels constant and everyone is trying hard just to keep things from escalating may find relief through a family therapist in Guildford.

    • Women who find themselves carrying more than their share emotionally and feeling unseen can explore new options through relationship therapy.

My work focuses on making relational patterns visible so new options become possible.

    Professional Experience

I have worked with individuals, couples, and families across educational, clinical, and community settings. My therapeutic work within a secondary school gave me deep experience with the relational complexities of adolescence and family life, including anxiety, school avoidance, self-harm, communication breakdown, and high-conflict dynamics between parents and teens. Alongside one-to-one work, I have facilitated parenting support groups in Guildford focused on communication, conflict resolution, and emotional resilience. My systemic couples therapy training took place within the Prudence Skinner Family and Couples Clinic in South West London, a specialist NHS-linked service. This training grounded my work in a rigorous relational framework, where difficulties are understood in context rather than located within one person. I also bring experience working with women navigating emotional over-responsibility, cross-cultural relationships, and the quiet strain of holding families together, making me a well-rounded family therapist in Guildford.

    Approach, Training & Qualifications

My approach is integrative and systemic, which means we focus on the interactions between you, rather than solely on what happens within you. In my practice as a family therapist in Guildford, I draw on systemic family therapy, coherence therapy, and trauma-informed, body-based approaches to illuminate and address relational patterns. Our sessions are collaborative and reflective, moving at a pace that feels safe while gently challenging the patterns that keep you stuck.

The way I work is influenced by my lived experience and years of training across psychology, neuroscience, and systemic family therapy. I hold a BA in Psychology from St. John's University, New York, and an MSc in Cognitive Neuroscience from Durham University in the UK. I am a Certified Coherence Therapy Foundation member, a Certified Systemic Family Therapy Practitioner through SW London NHS, and a Trauma and IFS Informed Practitioner. Additionally, I am an ITC (Immunity To Change) Certified Facilitator and provide integrative women’s coaching, along with offering parenting support in Guildford. I am also a proud member of AFT (Association of Family Therapy) and specialize in couples therapy in Surrey.
